To Solo Spot or Not

As you may already know, my current show with Arielle started all the way back in November last year when we responded to a call out for the Solo Spot at The Blue Room. The Solo Spot is a series of short solo theatre works (5 - 15 mins) that are showcased during the summer at The Blue Room usually starting late Feb. The nights are curated by talented writer/director Jeffrey Jay Fowler. A and I submitted the new work The Invisible Bloodbath, which has now become the centerpiece for our new full length show Nobody Cares But You.

Anyway, it's that time again and applications close on the 20th November. The absolute last thing I should even think about doing at this stage is writing another monologue, but then again I want to keep on my game, and it's always fun to make new alliances. And you never know what will blossom from it. I planned to write a NaNoWriMo novel this month but that's probably not going to happen (it still might I guess... I have dreams of writing a 50,000 word Choose-Your-Own-Adventure story that starts with your conception. Talk me into it) so if I don't do that, then I should at least write SOMETHING in the time between now and the NCBY tour.

I really enjoyed the system that Arielle and I employed. We sat down at the beginning and discussed a lot of ideas and tried to work out how we could best combine our skills, interests and strengths. I like the idea of collaborating with someone again and hopefully discovering something new. There are a few challenges though:

- I don't want to repeat anything I'm currently doing. It can't feel like an extension of the current show. If I'm going to do it then it needs to be something different and new and unlike anything else.
- I want to be challenged. But not frustrated.
- I probably won't be here for the performance. Around about that time I will be jetting to Adelaide for the tour. I might be back in time to catch one but the actor will probably be coping on their lonesome at that stage.

Look at me, thinking out loud! Actually I feel good today. Today was a good day. Things are coming together.

I need a picture to accompany this blog... um... here's a narwhal. They're the unicorns of the sea, don'cha know.

Nearly finished reading Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters and it is awesome. I came for the sea monsters but surprisingly stayed for the Austen. Check it out if you're so inclined.

I'm definitely intrigued by your notion of writing a 50,000 word choose your own adventure, and would love to see it happen. understand your desire to write another monolouge, but I have a better chance of being able to appreciate what you're doing with the novel than with the stage, unless you bring it to New Hampshire.

as we all know, its all about me.

Obviously it's time to write a choose your own adventure monologue.

I want to choose my own adventure. Do it!!!!

I've been wanting to make a choose your own adventure card game for a few months now, but I haven't gotten further than some scribbles and charts.
